Biography

Dr. Habbab received his postgraduate training in Medicine (1981-1984) and Cardiology (1984-1986) in the United States of America. Following which he became certified in American Board in Internal Medicine and American Board in Cardiovascular Disease. He joined the Department of Adult Cardiology in Prince Sultan Cardiac Center (PSCC) in July 1986. He also received further training in clinical electrophysiology and pacing at the State University of New York (1988-1989). Currently, he holds the post of Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Direct of Clinical Audit and Effectiveness Department at PSCC. In addition, he held the post of Head of Adult Cardiology Department at PSCC from 03/2000 until 10/2006, the post of Head of Electrophysiology and Pacing Division at PSCC from 10/1990 until 06/2007 and the post of Director of Training & Research Administration from 10/2006 until 04/2011. He remains an active member of many international and professional associations as he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), Fellow of the American College of Angiology (FACA) and Fellow of the American Federation for Clinical Research. He is the founder and the First President of the Saudi Group for Pacing and Electrophysiology (Currently known as Saudi Heart Rhythm Society) and assumed the post of Secretary General of the Saudi Heart Association from 02/2005 until 02/2008. He is also a member of the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, American Heart Association, and American Academy of Science. He continues to be involved in clinical research that resulted in numerous numbers of publications, in international and local journals as well as chapters in textbooks, and presentations at many international and local meetings. He also attended and participated in numerous international symposia held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as in the United States of America, Europe and the Middle East. He is also involved in postgraduate teaching and training of medical residents and fellows in Cardiology and held the post of Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program at PSCC from 03/2000 until 10/2006 and currently member of the Cardiology Fellowship Training Committee at the Saudi Council for Health Specialties and Chairman of the Examination Committee for the Saudi Board in Cardiology as well as an examiner for the Arab Board in Cardiology. Dr. Habbab is also involved in Life Support Education since 1986 and is recognized as Instructor's Trainer for life support education by the Saudi Heart Association in affiliation with the American Heart Association.
